Day 1 – Welcome to Sri Lanka
Your Sri Lankan journey begins in Negombo, a vibrant coastal town just a short drive from the airport in Colombo. Spend the afternoon relaxing at your own pace, and later meet up with your guide and fellow travelers for a welcome briefing.
Day 2 – Into the highlands of Kandy
Begin your journey inland with a scenic drive to the cooler highlands of Kandy. Explore its lakeside setting and browse local markets. This afternoon, stretch your legs on a nature trail, meandering through lush evergreen forest, a spice plantation, and a working tea estate.
Day 3 – Hike through hill country & Tamil villages
Set out on a guided Tamil village walk, a fascinating blend of gentle hiking and cultural immersion. The trail winds through tea and spice plantations, passing clove trees and pepper vines before reaching a nearby Tamil village tucked into the hills.
Day 4 – Hike at the foothills of the Knuckles Range
Set off for a hike into the foothills of the Knuckles Mountain Range. Walk through pine forests, across tea and spice plantations, and along jungle paths beside streams. Stop at a local home to experience rural life and traditional cooking.
Day 5 – Take the train to Ella and chill in the tea hills
Head to Kandy and hop aboard one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic train rides to Ella (or a scenic drive through the highlands). Sit back, relax, and watch as the lush landscapes roll by before arriving at a chilled hilltop retreat tucked away in the misty forests.
Day 6 – Yoga and a sunset trail to Little Adam’s Peak
Begin your day with a rejuvenating yoga session. In the afternoon, head to the charming highland town of Ella. Stop in at the Nine Arch Bridge, then take the trail to Little Adam’s Peak to enjoy panoramic views over Ella Gap at sunset.
Day 7 – Into the wild: safari & luxury camping in Yala
Leave the highlands behind and make your way to the wild southeastern plains of Yala National Park. Hop in your private jeep and head out into Yala Block 5 to look for elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, vibrant birdlife, and elusive leopards.
Day 8 – Elephants, temples & the Indian Ocean
Rise early for a final bush walk to explore Yala’s wilderness quietly on foot. Begin your journey south to the coast, stopping at the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home to observe young elephants from a distance. Make a short detour to climb to the cave shrines and frescoes of Mulkirigala Rock Temple.
Day 9 – Free time in paradise and sunset kayaking
Today is yours to enjoy at your own pace. Lounge by the pool or take a stroll along the quiet beach. As the day mellows, slip into a kayak and paddle out onto the calm waters of a nearby lagoon, gliding silently through tangled mangroves.
Day 10 – Ride the waves, plus sunset yoga in Tangalle
Start your day with an energising surf lesson at the beautiful and quiet Kudawella Bay. Unwind with some beachside downtime, then roll out your mat for a sunset yoga session. Gather in the evening to toast the end of your unforgettable adventure.
