Cycle through the sacred ruins of Anuradhapura, witness the grandeur of Polonnaruwa, and climb the iconic Lion Rock at Sigiriya. Wander through colorful markets, spice gardens, and tea plantations, where you can taste the freshest teas and join local families for authentic home-cooked meals.

Day 1 – Negombo, Sri Lanka
Arrive in Negombo, near the international airport. Attend a welcome meeting at 5:30 pm. If you arrive early, explore the fishing craft and enjoy fresh seafood. Optional bike rental to explore the surrounding countryside.

Day 2 – Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka
Visit Negombo Fish Market in the morning before traveling to Anuradhapura, the center of Theravada Buddhism. Explore the ruins of Maha Viharaya and Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi. Optional stop in Chilaw for lunch. Free afternoon to explore or visit Mihintale.

Day 3 – Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka
Guided bike tour among Anuradhapura’s ruins. Visit the sacred Bo Tree, ancient palaces, columns, and ponds. Free afternoon to explore the city and enjoy local cuisine.

Day 4 – Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka
Travel to Polonnaruwa, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the well-preserved ruins, palaces, temples, stupas, massive stone Buddhas, and museum with scale models of historic buildings.

Day 5 – Dambulla, Sri Lanka
Visit the Zero Plastic Impact Center to try bamboo and coconut shell crafts and take home a traditional mask. Explore Dambulla Cave Temples with 150 Buddha images and fascinating frescoes. Optional evening safari in Minneriya, Kaudulla, or Eco National Park.

Day 6 – Sigiriya & Kandy, Sri Lanka
Early morning visit to Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Optional spice garden stop en route to Kandy for lunch and learning about medicinal spices. Visit Kandy’s Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth) and optionally the National Museum or Botanical Gardens.

Day 7 – Kandy, Sri Lanka
Visit a local tea factory and sample teas. Free time to relax in Kandy. Evening cooking class and dinner with a local family to prepare traditional Sri Lankan dishes and sweets.

Day 8 – Bandarawela, Sri Lanka
Scenic train ride through tea plantations to Bandarawela. Attend a local cooking demonstration and enjoy dinner with your hosts.

Day 9 – Haputale / Bandarawela, Sri Lanka
Drive to Haputale for the Pekoe Trail hike through cloud forests, tea plantations, Hindu kovils, and Tamil villages. Enjoy a home-cooked Tamil lunch before returning to Bandarawela.

Day 10 – Udawalawe Jungle Camp, Sri Lanka
Train to Idalgashinna, hike through the hills, meet tea pickers, and stop for lunch in Haldummulla. Continue to Udawalawe jungle camp, with optional short village tour.

Day 11 – Mirissa, Sri Lanka
Optional early morning safari at Udawalawe National Park to see elephants, or visit an Ayurvedic medicine center. Travel to Mirissa for beach relaxation.

Day 12 – Mirissa, Sri Lanka
Relax on Mirissa’s golden sands or take a bike/tuk-tuk ride to Weligama. Optional visit to Galle Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with lunch en route.

Day 13 – Galle, Sri Lanka
Visit a Beeralu lace weaving workshop and learn about this traditional craft. Take a walking tour around the historic Dutch Fort and enjoy the sunset from the ramparts.

Day 14 – Colombo, Sri Lanka
Travel to Colombo, Sri Lanka’s capital. Bus tour of major sites including Independence Square, Parliament, and the National Museum. Optional visit to Good Market (Saturday) or shopping at Barefoot Fairtrade Store. Optional group dinner in the evening.

Day 15 – Colombo, Sri Lanka
Trip concludes. Free day to depart or extend your stay.
